GAME NIGHT · 2–6 PLAYERS

Card game night, online with friends

SettleUp is a free card game made for game night. Send one link, everyone joins from their phone or laptop, and you’re playing in under a minute. No accounts, no app to download, no cards to shuffle.

Host a game night in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Create a room

Type a nickname, choose how many players, and tap Create a room.

  2. 2

    Share the link

Send it to your group chat. Friends tap it, pick a name and take a seat, or type the 6-letter room code on the home page.

  3. 3

    Deal the cards

When everyone is ready, the host deals. A game takes 15 to 30 minutes, so there is time for a rematch.

A game for every size of group

2 players

A quick head-to-head duel. Great for two friends, a couple, or a coffee break.

3 to 4 players

The classic game: plenty of rent, stealing and last-second No Way!s.

5 to 6 players

Loud and chaotic in the best way. With 6, the game shuffles two decks together (212 cards), so nobody runs short.

More than 6 of you? Rooms are free, so open two and run a small tournament: the winners of each room meet in a final.

Same sofa or miles apart

  • Sitting together. Everyone plays on their own phone. Your hand stays private, nobody has to deal, and no cards get lost under the sofa.
  • On a video call. Start a call on Zoom, Google Meet, FaceTime or Discord and send the room link in the chat. You’ll hear every “It’s my birthday!” live.
  • With your team. A 20-minute round makes an easy social for a remote team. Split into rooms of up to 6 and compare winners at the end.

Host tools that keep the night moving

Turn timer

Every turn has 90 seconds, shown as a ring around the player’s picture. The host can pick 30, 60 or 120 seconds, or turn it off.

House rules

Turn on Gentle Take It All!, No winning with Take It All!, Double Double Rent, Fast answers or Host goes first.

Score across games

Your room keeps count of who has won, so you can play best of 3 or best of 5.

Chat and game log

Trash-talk in the room chat, and open the notebook to see every move of the game so far.

People can watch

Friends who arrive late can follow the game from the link. The host can make a table players only.

Nobody gets stuck

If someone has to leave mid-game, the computer plays their cards so the rest of you can finish.

New players welcome

Got a friend who has never played? Practice with the Dealer runs a short game against a computer player that shows them what to play, one move at a time. The complete rules fit on one page, and in the game the How to play button is always one tap away.

Questions people ask

What is a good card game for an online game night?

Pick a game that is quick to learn, works on phones and doesn’t need accounts. SettleUp takes a minute to set up, plays in the browser, and a game lasts 15 to 30 minutes, so there is time for a rematch.

Is SettleUp free?

Yes. SettleUp is free to play, with no sign-up and nothing to download.

How many people can play?

Each room seats 2 to 6 players. For a bigger group, open more rooms and have the winners play each other.

Can we play over a video call?

Yes. Start a call on Zoom, Google Meet, FaceTime or Discord, then send the room link in the chat. Everyone plays on their own phone or computer while you talk.

Do we all need to be in the same place?

No. Everyone joins from the link, wherever they are. It works just as well with everyone on the same sofa, each on their own phone.

Can someone watch without playing?

Yes. Anyone with the room’s link can watch the game. They see the table but never anyone’s hand, and can’t read the chat. The host can make a table players only.
